Mindful power
I was reading sermons online the other day preparing to speak in Fuel Youth service. I had planned on speaking about emptying your garbage but felt another direction. I found where our minds were compared to computers and I had a topic already written down in that same direction about how our minds are powerful. I started to develop the topic and this is what I came up with.
When you think of Steve Jobs what do you think of? Probably an iPod, ipad, itouch, iphone, apple. He created a base of doing things. He was not the creator of great things, but had great people around him. He knew where he wanted to go. A computer genius. A computer has lots of different components like RAM, ROM, HDD, SDD, Raid. Your mind also has a lot of different components. Your mind has a lot of power. Look at the Tower Babel. At The tower of Babel God saw that there was nothing they could not do. Read Gen 11:1-9. Windows allows you to access several things at once. There are always pros & cons of access. If you can access it then it can access you too. Read Luke 11:33-36 “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. (Luke 11:33-35 NIV84). Your eyes are a window to your soul. You can be made unclean only from the inside
Mark 7:21-23 For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean.’ ” (Mark 7:21-23 NIV84). What you see and here will be entered into your brain. What will it do once it gets inside? Do you like your computer to be sluggish, slow and freezing up all the time? What are you putting into your mind. Junk in junk out. Education will develop more of your power. Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. (Proverbs 23:7 KJV). A doctor can look at cancer growing on your skin and know it is cancer. I look at I and think it looks like a freckle. What's the difference, we are looking at the same thing? He is educated and I am not. The power of positive thinking. Solomon asked for wisdom in I Kings and God gave him wealth and power and wisdom. Read Romans 12:2. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 NIV84). If you ask why are on this earth then you need to renew your mind. Lastly, 2 Peter 1:3 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. (2 Peter 1:7-9 KJV). Notice we have these things IN the knowledge of Chrst.
What will your mind do for God?
